Risk Assessments

With regulatory agencies realizing that many impacted sites cannot be cleaned up to background levels, Risk Assessments are increasingly being performed to determine the amount of risk a site poses to human health and the environment. If the risk to human health or the environment is unacceptable, remedial actions are conducted to reduce the risk to acceptable levels.

Risk analysis allows limited remedial action funds to be spent on sites that pose the greatest risk. Documenting site conditions and potential exposure pathways is the foundation of every CEA Risk Assessment.

CEA uses several computer software packages to predict the migration of contaminants in soil, ground water, and surface water and determine future contaminant exposure levels and future risk.

CEA has performed risk assessments that resulted in the avoidance or minimization of expensive remedial actions (cleanup) at sites that will not significantly impact human health or ecological receptors.
